Pregnancy Skincare Makeover
// SMUDGE - Pregnancy Skincare Makeover //
So being the complete product junkie that I am who LOVES any excuse to try new things, I wasn't exactly upset when I found out I needed to revamp my daily skincare, being an expectant momma and all!
I found out that most of the products I was using contained ingredients that weren't so great for a growing baby (or me for that matter) so I pinned a million pregnancy skincare blog posts, narrowed down the brands/products that sounded most appealing for my skin type, and after only a couple duds I have accumulated this line up of my favorite pregnancy approved products.
Mario Badescu Facial Spray With Aloe, Herbs and Rosewater: This is a cult favorite product. I can't believe I'd never tried before. It's refreshing when I am feeling tired and just blaaahh.
Mario Badescu Botanical Exfoliating Scrub: I love scrubbing my face, which means I need a scrub that's gentle enough for every day but still does its job. I'll definitely continue to use this product, long after pregnancy.
Mario Badescu Seaweed Night Cream: This face cream does have a strange texture, but as far as keeping my skin moisturized at night without being overly greasy, this is a great natural product.
C E Ferulic Vitamin C Serum: I was so happy when I found out this incredible serum was prego safe! While definitely on the pricey side, this vitamin C serum helps neutralize free radicals induced by UVA/UVB, infrared radiation, and ozone pollution, while making a significant impact on brightening my tired skin's complexion.
Drunk Elephant Umbra Tinte Physical Daily Defense SPF 30: I've been using this sunscreen as my daytime moisturizer as well and I am just soooo in love with this product. I am notoriously bad about sun protection, mainly because I am more concerned about getting a tan, but of course when I started reading about the dreaded "pregnancy mask", I knew I needed to get a daily SPF ASAP! Highly recommend this product.
Trader Joe's Rose Facial Oil: I picked up this facial oil while shopping at my favorite market in the world (seriously the only thing I missed about America when I was living in France was Trader Joe's) because not only have I been experiencing serious breakouts since becoming pregnant but somehow my skin has been very, very dry at the same time. I had a friend with me that's a natural ingredients guru, and she said the ingredient list was safe for me to use. Just putting that out there because I didn't find this on a pre-approved product list or anything like that. But this is $6 and really anyone should own this delightfully smelling, moisturizing oil.
Palmer's Cocoa Butter Massage Lotion: I've been slathering this stuff on my belly, boobs, and just about everything else since about two days after I found out I was pregnant. I'm not even going to jinx myself by typing those two dreaded words, but I am REALLY trying to avoid them. There's two versions of this lotion at the store and I prefer the one that says "Advanced formula with Bio C-Elaste" at the top of the bottle. This smells a lot better and was creamier than the original product they sell.
ApotheCARE Essentials The Booster Shampoo & ApotheCARE Essentials Damaged Hair Repair Conditioner: These are another example of natural, paraben free products I will continue to use after pregnancy. Besides smelling FANTASTIC, and not like a dumb fake fragrance, the Apothecare shampoo and conditioner has given my hair tons of body and shine. That may also have something to do with the prenatals but w/eeee.
Dr. Sheffield's Toothpaste: Once again, missing my good ol' Crest, but trying to keep everything as natural as possible, and this has been a good alternative.
